E-waste recycling company CleanBayArea on CBS News

Data center equipment recycling company from Milpitas, CA CleanBayArea is looking for the anonymous lady who dropped off an Apple-1 computer to reward her $100,000.

Here’s what happened:

In April, an anonymous lady around 60-70 years of age came to CleanBayArea’s recycling center in Milpitas, CA and dropped off a couple boxes of e-waste. She informed us that her husband had passed away back in February and that she had decided to clean up their garage.

She dropped off a couple boxes of e-waste and drove off without leaving any contact information. The boxes of e-waste had been sitting in CleanBayArea’s warehouse for a couple weeks until a CleanBayArea recycling manager opened the box and found the Apple-1 computer under a bunch of cables and old keyboards.

It is one of only 200 of the original Apple-1 computers that were produced in 1976 which sold for $666.66 at the time. The Apple-1 computer we received was sold to a private collector for $200,000 and CleanBayArea needs help finding the woman that dropped it off in order to reward her $100,000 (50% of the total sale).
